Sculpture carry on

I decided to use different methods to smooth out my sculpture. I used a metal kidney, surform (grator) and wet and dry sand paper.
Here are the photos
My sculpture is a lot smoother but it could be better as it have wholes in but I have chosen to keep then and keep the flow of the casting plaster as shown on the 1st photo. Also I have chosen not to sand down all of the sculpture as I like how it it looks like something has been poured over it, as at the bottom of the sculpture there's a ripple and under the smallest sticky out part. Now I would like to keep the colour of white but probably paint it or spray paint it.

Health & Saftey Poster Research

Here are some posters i have found on the internet and i am going to find a style i like then concentrate on the individual components that i need in a poster.
I like how this poster is simple and colourful but i think it is not the right style to suit the age group o am looking at.
I like how this oater is a comic strip and it tells a short story and people can see that a hard hat can come in handy as they do protect you and you need to wear one and the fact that it could happen to anyone so don't take a chance.
I like the imagery on this poster and its comical but the text is too small and people wouldn't take notice plus there is a lot of it, therefore i will try to keep my text as short as it needs to be.
This is a similar poster to one that we have around our college in the art department. people do refute to them.

This poster is boring and bland and i will try and stay away from this style of poster, i want to create something that is eye catchy but has and shows the relative information like this poster.
I like how this poster shows the difference between safety and no safety i might try and incorporate this into my design.

metamorphosis

Metamorphosis in Greek means transformations.

In the National Gallery 3 paintings were reunited in 2012 for the first time since the 18th century, the 3 paintings are 'The Death of Actaeon', 'Diana and Actaeon' and 'Diana and 'Callisto' which were all painted by Titian from the 15 book poem written by Ovid (43BC - 17AD).

This painting is Diana and Actaeon.

This painting it Diana and Callisto.
This painting is The death of Actaeon.

The poem which inspired the paintings which have now inspired a group of contemporary artists to create a unique twist to these pieces. Chris Ofili, Conrad Shawcross and Mark Wallinger joined with The Royal Ballet have created a new display for the National Gallery, it involves set deigns and costumes for 3 new ballets that will be performed in The Royal Opera House July 2012. Chris, Conrad and Mark collaborated with top British choreographers, dances and composers to create the 3 ballets.           You can watch parts of the ballet on this link. http://www.nationalgallery.org.uk/whats-on/exhibitions/metamorphosis-titian-2012-ballets

newspaper carry on

Here is my news paper so far but i have decided to change it from being landscape to portrait. I have done this because my research so far shows that there is no newspaper that is landscape even though id like to have my design different. I am going to keep this version saved and concentrate on the portrait design and if i decide to change it i can swap them round. But i do have to admit that this lay out does look better.

Sculpture carry on

Carrying on from last years work to finish off my sculpture I have decided to use fine casting plaster to cover the sculpture because it is easier to sand down the casting plaster than the one coat plaster and scrim. Here is a photo of my sculpture but it still needs sanding down.

What I want to do with this now is to smooth it by sanding it down and to give it a better finish and either painting it or see how different materials drape from it.

Newspaper

We have been asked to create a newspaper about different things we have done in college. I have looked at different newspapers here are some examples

Newspapers have one main photo which is explained in detail but may continue onto a different page but giving enough information for the reader to want to read the rest. Also some, almost every newspaper has advertisements on the front cover and I should try to add some into my newspaper.

I have founds some templates as well
Out of the 2 templates I like the 2nd and I will try and create my newspaper paper similar to this.

Crochet

These images are of a coral scene made entirely of crochet by the institute for  figuring in LA.

Olek a polish crochet artist covers any object in crochet for example this crocodile instillation in Sao Paulo.
The famous charging bull in New York.
Even people in their habitats.
