Nottingham exhibition

There wasn't much that i liked at the Nottingham trent exhibition.
There was one where you where allowed 2 in at a time, it was a quite and calm room

The next images are sheets of fabric that had been dipped in resin and left to dry over objects, they have molded to the shape of the objects. None of the objects were in or under any of the sculptures.

The one i LOVED! was this next one. I had to video it to get the full effect but it was so playful although i didnt really look at the video that was playing. I want to try and add balloons in my work.

Personal statement

Art is something I would love to teach to young children and I believe that this course would help me achieve my goal and give me the chance to experience what the teaching career would be like. I believe that art should be taught in schools and if I am to continue on my current path, I could in my own practice use the childrens' work and play to influence my work whilst influencing the children through art. I feel like my perception of art has been flipped on its head, shaken up and put back down again, and I am left to do as I please. Throughout my time at North Nottinghamshire College I have experimented with fabrics, paint, clay, wire, string and computer software e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator and Premier Pro. Being able to experiment with different materials is something I really enjoy, as well as seeing how people interact with the same material in different ways. I mainly use different types of textiles in conjunction with 3D material. One example of combining two different materials is when I created a costume that took me two days to make. This idea sprang from a previous project, in which Nick Cave, Bart Hess and Lucy Mcrae inspired me; I love the movement of the Nick Cave's Sound Suits and Bart and Lucy's bubbles and other media which they attached to parts of the body. This went down the catwalk that the local council organises every year. This allowed me to show and perform my costumes to an audience, which has a broad age range. My Extended Diploma final major project has been my biggest body of work so far. It was a mini play and sense zone also using sounds, textures and light and dark areas. Viewers would take their shoes off to crawl and walk through this space I had created. This work was inspired by the work of Ernesto Neto with his hanging crocheted walkways; I like how he was able to create something that could hold the weight of a person. I have also worked with other students towards designing and then helping to create a sculpture for the town of Worksop. We had to co-operate with the local council and Campbell's Design throughout the design process to create the final product. Currently I am working on a body of work that is based on play and mark making. I feel it is pushing my own boundaries and what I am capable of doing. I am involving performance with costume which I am filming then trying to understand what happens to that performance when it is over, also what happens to the objects from the performance and where their uses then lie. For the past year and a half I have been a waitress at a local restaurant. I get on-board with the social events that take place in the village, for example; we create and dress up scarecrows for the festival, decorate pumpkins for Halloween and I get involved with decorating the restaurant for Christmas and New Year's Eve. The skills I have gained from working in a busy restaurant are that I can work in a team, work well under pressure including dealing with difficult customers, which has improved my communication skills. I look forward to progressing to university; this would allow me to extend the skills I already have and to experiment with new techniques. It will also allow me to continue to understand where I am in the art world today and what my artwork means.

More for my personal statement

Why this sources?
I would love the oppunity to carry on developing and creating my weird and wonderful ideas.
I enjoy creating mess, equally getting messy, experimenting with different materials therefore furthering my skills with a different materials and creating my ideas.

Do my current studies relate to the course?
Currently I am an art and design student in my foundation year.

Skills..
Through out the time I have been at the college I have experimented with fabrics, paint, clay, wire, string and computer software e.g photoshop, illustrator and (media software).
I am good at working well in a team and also as an individual.

Why do I think I'm suitable for the course?
I believe I am suited for this course as I'm very enthusiastic about what I do and I love doing it.
When I'm at work and there's nothing to do I'll often do some sketches on my notepad to put in my sketchbooks,

Why does this subject interest you?
I remember in primary school year 6 always setting up the art lessons with my teacher and getting excited that we would be doesn't something different or using a different material, people used to say I was good at art and still do although now art has changed for me dramatically as gcse and AS level art is copying really and now it's flipped on its head shook up and put back down again.
Being able to do so many things with one material and seeing how different people interpreted things differently is amazing, I don't want to be the same as someone else and art is more you than math or English I see.

live brief??
I have worked with other student to work towards designing and then helping to creat a sculpture for the town of worksop. We had to co-oporate with the local council and cambells design who were making the final product.

I have created

I have created some of what I would say Amazing peices, one which I have worn down a (fashion show) which the college runs every year, it was a spontaneous make that didn't take too long and Spring off one of my previous ideas. The other peice which I really enjoyed the prowess of making apwas my final project of last year which was a mini play/sence zone.

Opening sentence?
-Personally, art for me is a sanctuary, somewhere to go to.
-For me art is what i enjoy doing, something that relaxes but can frustreate me, something i like to question and make others do that same.
-Art, What is it that i like well love about this subject....

Leeds

On my way to leeds, I'm a bit nervous as i will only know one person there and were all going out on a night out, i don't want to be left on my own....

Just met up with my friend and were off on a walk back to the accommodation, i do like the look of leeds city and its only a 30minute train jurney from home and i could easily drive here. I remember some bit of leeds like the royal armoires and the square the entrance is on from last year when we went.
I might have to have a look at the uni's in leeds!

Just found out that we are going out to a silent discos.... I remember saucy a student and friend from last year telling me about when she went to one so I'm a bit optimistic....

Brilliant night out with everyone, the uni is a distance from the accommodation that i stayed in but its really nice. Double beds, has their own bathrooms. I have managed to get some videos of the silent disco, which was rather funny until you realise everyone is doing the same thing so you just go with it. I would go to one again.
I also recognised the campus as i have been there in year 12 of school and sat  in some lectures.

Heres the videos:
I liked how you could here in the break of one song the people who were listening to the other channel singing to their song and the 2 channels would dance differently as well.

Nottingham Trent uni exhibitions

I have been to Nottingham today to go and look at the uni exhibitions and have found some people's work rather interesting.
This one for example is made from bin bags looped/attached to one another and hung from the selling. I liked it because it gave a different texture and I liked how it was made from bin bags. I wanted to run through it but I wasn't allowed as its someone's art.
This one I loved as I could interact with it. It felt like a mattress/blow up bed, you were lifted from the floor and felt odd under you're feet so it gave me the idea I could use something like this under the feet of people walking throught my exhibition work.

Lincon exhibitions

I have been to Lincon today to see the uni exhibitions and have come across someone's work that I think is simular to one of the artists I have on my blog. Kim said I could have something obstructing from the sides of my walk way and not just the top and bottom. So my thought was to try and use something like origami shapes to create something. The next thing is it could be sharp so I then thought about lighting it up?
I am going to try and make some origami shapes and put them together and see how they go.

Here are the images of this students work.
They all look like they are peices of his work. I like the different coloure so I could use different colours to start with them try other materials/other prints on paper.
