Experiment

Sewhat finished i can now use my sleeves to try and create my sculpture.  In not too keen on this as its messy and it doesn't stand up so i need a bigger base. 

research and ideas

Whilst watching this i have had the idea of wrapping myself up like in the photo with toilet roll videoing me unraveling to show how serious i could be then having say my face covered in some material like feathers then videoing myself taking them off to reveal me underneath. Speed it up so that its a bit of a jumpier video.

I could go into a nursery and go back to children and interact with them as they do.
Also use shaving foam and child safe products.

Costume

Sweat is coming up really quickly and i just want costumes!! Here is a net i used for part of my FMP last year.. I managed to make it into a dress. It is attached at the neck and you simply put it on over your head. 

My thought was to fill it with balloons so you could see the net and the colours. As the theme was alternative miss world.

Net Experiments

I decided to dry different materials on net to see how they would react if i were to try and use them with my costume/sculpture. I have tried plaster one where is was nearly set and it didn't stick well and another were the plaster was still runny. Ive also done one with latex.

Karla Black

Some of Karla Black's work is similar to Eva Hesse's work with the fibre glass and latex hanging from the ceiling. 

The Title 'There Can Be No Arguments' seems to be a body of different works.

I like her use of materials and also the way she presents them. They look delicate but in parts they don't. They are also rather playful to make and to look at.

This was made by dipping lengths of fiberglass into latex and hanging it from the ceiling with hooks. It was a collaboration with Doug John.

Eva hadn't used latex before and wasn't sure how it would work with the fiberglass.

I really like this because it just looks like its floating and looks weightless. 

Contingent 

These are large rectangular sheets of cheesecloth covered with latex and has fiberglass on the ends.

Balloon Experiment

SO i have gotten a little bored and got to what i do best and that is quick costume. This was inspired but rebecca horn's work with the extension of parts. this is a sleve of net with balloons blown inside with elastic  around the top to keep it to my arm. 

Once i had made on i went and made another the same but i liked the one with the smaller round balloons in instead of the long ones as they were the same and filled the sleeve up.

I them tried moving in different ways to get a feel of them.

It was odd to try and do every day movements as these didn't work as your arms normally would it took more effort but it was quite comical.

It then when from arms to head wear....

Then to a dress...

Then is it a sculpture in its own write??

I tried to make it stand on its own and it wasn't happening so it needs something else but what???
