Construction poster character

 i thought of creating a character and as i couldn't come up with a human or animal i thought to myself why not make one out of the safety equipment. here are my results;

At first i tried to incorporate the high-vis-vest but it wasn't the type of character i was looking for i wanted something with less body and a bit smaller. therefore i decided to get rid of it and here is my character.
I then decided to put it on a quick poster and i rather like this one as it is simple and rather effective. I also like how the character looks like it is in motion.

Surrealism influences

This Giorgio de Chirico.  1888 1978
He is  a surrealist artist but was an artist before its time as Giorgio was creating these paintings before the manifesto was written and before the 1st world war. Giorgio Influenced surrealism.

The uncertainty or the poet 1913.
This painting almost represents a woman's desires as of how close the bananas are to woman's torso which looks like it is in movement and back in the time when the painting was painted when something were to happen between couples or 2 people th Eocene used to change to a train going into a tunnel. And in the background of the painting is a steam train with smoke rrefuring to the train as in motion.

Marcel Duchamp. 1887 1969.
Marcel is seemed to be a jokester/prankster take this sculpture of his.

Fountain (urinal stood differently) 1917.

This is a urinal simply put on its back. Marcel was with the anti-art movement which was a group of people who would take the mess out of art and basically turn it upside down. The relevance to R,Mutt is the fact that it is a toilet manufactur which is another joke by Marcel. Also he likes to play with the gender boundaries.

Bicycle wheel 1915 1923.
Sculpture had changed from calving stone to assemblage which is using different materials and putting them together. This sculpture came to life when the wheel was spun.

L.H.O.O.Q 1919.
This is another one of Marcel's peices of work, it is a post card of the Mona Lisa which he has drawn a moustache on and wrote L.H.O.O.Q. underneath it. The letters L.H.O.O.Q. translated into French is a slang word for 'she has a hot ass'. Also there has been thought that there has been a moustache drawn on her face refuring to davinchi's homo sexuality.

2D/3D paper mackets

Here is the other mackett I have made by drawing round my hand but once I had drawn one finger I rotated my hand and drew then next one along. I then joined up the parts that are in between the fingers and. Folded the paper twice n different places. Here are some photos I have taken;

2D/3D paper mackets

To start off with I tried to create a characteristic face with 2 pieces of paper folded and drawn on them. It took me a while to think of the shapes rather than doing it automatically which would of been easier. However I feel I have magaged to create something that resembles my first thought.here are some photos of the different angles.

After doing this I remembered I was looking into hands and my last sculpture was part of a hand so I have drawn around my hand in 2 different ways and folded the paper to create 2 shapes. I find this way easier and it is still planned but not to the extent of the first idea.
Once I had drawn my shape I folded the paper twice on the beginning and the end of the extended part of the hand. Here are the photos

2D/3D

While I was over in France Dunkirk I visited a museum and found a room filled with a similar artists work where they have used stripes of wood in different shapes to create creatures by layering then up and have decided to fill the space but you are able to walk round here are some photos I have taken.
They remind me of something that a child would imagen or try and draw up. The artists name is Gilbert Delaine. He also had a sculpture of a fish out side the museum which from the angle I have taken it looks like it is jumping over the hedge.

2D/3D work

This type of sculputure can also be seen else where for example this bike;

Furniture ;
You can see that the furniture is all from one material and has either been slotted together or jointed together with so ring to hold it in place out it has changed from 2D a flat object to 3D and is free standing. The best example out of these is the third as it shows clearly how it is put together.

2D into 3D

What I mean by 2D into 3D is making something flat into a 3 dimentional object, sort of like origami.

Picasso is an artist who creates 2D/3D sculptures. Here are some of his artworks;
This is 'Guitar' by picasso in 1912 and is created with sheets of metal.
Here are 3 piece's by picasso which shows the different stages of making a 2D/3D sculpture. The first is a drawing, the second is a paper version and the third is a sheet of metal cut into the shapes and assembled to create the image.

Jean Dubuffet created an installation called monumental sculpture from the hourloupe cycle at the pace gallery (Pace Wildenstein) in 2008.

Jake and Dinos Chapman are brothers who also create his type of artwork, they have created a series of dinosaurs that are rather large. They were placed in London in 2007 here are the 3 dinosaurs;
They are all made out of steel plates and joined together and they look exactly like their makkets just on a different scale. Here is one as an example which was made out of card board.

improved posters

I have changed the background to a brighter green but that has brought back the original colour of the circles. to some extent i like the colour as it stands out but i feel i should change them to black.
I have changed the background from red to a dark orange as this is less powerful but still stands out.
I have changed this background from a light orange to yellow as i have changed one of the posters to orange and wanted them all different colours.
I have changed the text colour on al the posters as the grey was too light, now that i have darkened all the text it is easier to read.

poster colours

I thought i could change the colours around and have the text that had the colour change to black and change the background to the colour of the text.

What i had forgotten i had done is i had put the circles round the equipment needed to be safe the same colour as the text so i have lost my circles but i do like how it has turned out.
I don't particually like the red but with the other 3 colours it goes nicely.

The only thing is the light grey is to light?? so i need to change that and possible make some of the colours more vibrant.

health and saftey possible posters

i have tried to create a simple poster to show the health and safety in a construction environmnet.

i have created 4 posters all with white backgrounds and they are all bland so i am going to try figure out a back ground colour that works or each individual poster.

the black background darkens the poster and dint make it as eye catching and i need the poster to be seen in the construction room as it is to make people aware in the work place. Although i do like how the colour stands out which i am also trying to do.
